A Bit About Me
Luke's Bio
As the lead home inspector and founder of Oregon Home Inspections, LLC, I believe a good home inspection business operates on these three basic principles: Knowledge, experience, and integrity. I'm a licensed Oregon Certified Home Inspector, a Oregon licensed Water Heater Installer, and hold a DEQ septic installer and maintenance provider certification. My passion for the construction industry comes from an obsession of understanding how things work. I started as a plumbing apprentice in 2004, and in 2006, I opened Pacific Solar and Rain. I have been self-employed ever since. My acute understanding of the construction process and how different building assemblies interact led me to start Oregon Home Inspections in 2012. In 2015, I started offering sewer camera inspections with my home inspections. After nine years of inspecting and acquiring an in-depth understanding of sewer systems, I started Captain Rooter, LLC, combining over 20 years of hands-on construction experience and knowledge.
While most of my friends and family would tell you I'm always working, which is not too far from the truth, I would tell you I work to live; I don't live to work. I have that work hard, play hard mentality. I love listening to music and spend as much time as possible practicing the air guitar, which is about the extent of my musical talent. LOL. But what really makes me tick is my love for fishing, especially when I'm 60 miles offshore in my boat tuna fishing. Life, to me, is not about the destination but rather the journey and the people I meet along the way. To wrap it up, the three things I'm the most proud of besides my family are being self-employed for over 20 years, building two of my own houses from the ground up, and obtaining the Coast Guard-approved OUPV captain license.
Now that you know a little about me, I look forward to getting to know more about you.

In 2020 my passion for fishing and boating led me to get my captain license through the U.S. Coast Guard so that I would be a safer and more knowledgeable mariner.

knowledge
With over 20 years of relative hands-on experience in the building science industry, it is one of the most valuable assets to my business. Still, it's the passion for what I do that makes me successful as a home inspector. Being a home inspector is not just what I do; it's who I am! With a constantly evolving industry, there is always something new to learn; I'm consistently expanding my knowledge and experience of the building sciences. If you choose Oregon Home Inspections, you know you will get one of the best inspections money can buy.
Experience
I have done everything from general contracting and construction, project management, structural iron work, remodeling, and building integrated energy systems. I have worked in many different areas of construction from commercial to residential and I've crawled around in countless attics and crawlspaces. Most recently, since 2006, I've been the owner and operator of a construction business in Eugene, Oregon that designs, installs, and maintains solar energy systems. We employed licensed plumbers and electricians and have first hand knowledge in both of these areas as well as in the house as a whole. Rest assured, when I inspect a home for you I'll be combining all of my experience and knowledge to give you the most thorough inspection available.
Integrity
When I do an inspection I am working for you, which means I am independent of other parties involved in the transaction. I provide you with an independent, objective and comprehensive inspection of the property to help you understand its condition at the time of the inspection. It is my belief that your understanding of the property under inspection is not only in your best interests, but are also in the best interests of Oregon Home Inspections.
